Give Me Your Spiders

it's the time of the year where house spiders do what they're named for & start entering people's homes. People get really weird about this.

A house spider goes into a person's house for many of the same reasons the person goes into that house. It's insulated and kept relatively warm (compared to the outside), and provides cover from rain and snow. In the absence of a house, house spiders will go into places like dead old trees for shelter ... but a house is warmer, and humans have a decidedly odd habit of clearing out dead old trees that don't pose any risk or problem. and Thus, in September/October, a whole lot of spiders show up in your room.

Apparently people don't like this.

me, though, I'm more than happy to see the spiders. Unlike termites, they don't cause structural damage. Unlike fleas and mosquitos and bedbugs, they aren't here with the goal of biting you. Mice and roaches and weevils get in your food and shit in your pantry. Moths chew on your coat. Spiders? they do None Of That. The main thing they do is stay out of your way and eat flying bugs (which are often more bothersome and harmful). of course a spider bite Sucks, but as I said, their goal isn't to bite you. you're way too big to eat.

so. Given all that. give me your spiders.

Spider in the house & you don't want it there? I want that spider. Give it to me. I'll put it in my house. my spider now. win-win-win (you, me, and the spider all get a win).

I'm spidermaxxing. I'll be unstoppable.
